You are going to have to get hold of a wiring diagram and trace the wiring by their colour codings - you should be able to see if the earth for these gauges is common to both or indeed a connector block. both gauges probably share a common earth or possibly a common connector plug which may be causing the problem - you haven't stated what the vehicle is. If it's a SJ410 I can look on my wiring diagram but otherwise that's as far as I can go.

Check the two rubber water drainage thingy's which you can see mounted on the bulkhead (at the rear of the engine) - mine leaked so I removed them and refitted with gasket compound to provide a water tight seal.
