Thanks Tom
That seems to make sense.

Help please in sending a PM
I've just sent a a PM to a Member and clicked the Submit button as normal but I note that it's now just sitting in the Outbox. On checking this message in the Sent Box (to see if it had in fact been transmitted) I note that it does not appear. I don't seem to be able to send it again from the Outbox...

Re: Shoes
If you haven't done the job before you may want to take a photo (digital) of the brake layout once you have removed the drum. Print it for reference because it's easy to forget where the different springs go and how they are routed.

Re: Running on three with blue smoke
Looks like you need to do a compression test on the dodgy cylinder. You have a spark, you seem to have fuel and I assume you have air - the missing element would appear to be lack of compression.

Re: Leaky brake thing
Much less complicated internals than on mine so it shouldn't be a problem. Meticulous cleanliness is the order of the day here, so clean all the parts, especially the internal section of the valve body. Yours doesn't appear to have a bleed nipple - all the one's I've seen do.

Re: Leaky brake thing
Thinking about stripping this valve down - it must be possible otherwise it couldn't have been assembled. The cover on the left of the assembly with the green label stuck to it looks the likely candidate for removal. If you are serious about trying to repair the leak I think you are going to have to...

Re: Leaky brake thing
Looks like a pressure reducing valve to me - yours is a bit different to the one fitted to my SJ410 but I'm pretty sure I'm right. Its purpose is to limit the rear braking effort when you brake heavily where the nose dips under load and the rear becomes light - it's a safety measure. I once removed ...

The stop solonoid you describe becomes redundant along with the old carb.

The "thingy" you refer to on the coil is a Ballast Resistor. If you put this in the Search Section there are many references to it and I'm sure you will find the details and answers you need.

Re: Indicator stalk
Hi I had a small issue with my SJ410 similar to what you have described - I have to assume that the arrangement is similar for a 413. The indicator stalk mechanism locks in to the left/right or central position using a spring loaded ball bearing which locates in to a small recess in a plastic mouldi...
