Well it just broke my heart!

Just put all my old sj410 bits in my scrap metal bin because I can't get anything for them - sign of the times.

Re: Reconditioning Gearboxes

I've not reconditioned a 413 box but recently I did so on my 410 4 speed unit. I quite understand that you may wish to have the bearings and seals in your hands before starting the job but they are very available probably from any bearing supplier. With your experience you will obviously know that t...

Re: 87 Santana SJ410 New cam needed!

Yeah - my cam was heavily scored with parallel lines in the direction of rotation and of course they are only hardened to a certain depth. Once this depth has been breached the underlying metal will wear very rapidly - is this the moment to take stock and consider a replacement engine if other parts...

Re: 87 Santana SJ410 New cam needed!

I bought a new cam from an engine overhaul specialist in Barnstaple in N.Devon - it cost me a £100 posted but I only bought from them because it was immediately available - have you Googled your requirements to see what is available. One thought has occurred to me, are you sure in all that muck and ...

Re: Engine problem???

Simplistic I know but have you checked the air filter for blockage and the adjustable vent on the air filter body to ensure that it is set to the appropriate position for the outside air temperature?

Re: bleeding

The majority of the braking effort is at the front of the vehicle and during heavy braking the rear wheels will have a tendancy to become light as the nose of the vehicle pitches down. The limiting valve under these conditions will reduce the rear wheel braking effort to prevent instability due to s...

Re: bleeding

Don't forget to bleed the brake liming valve positioned on the right side of the vehicle about halfway down its length - easy to forget. Also be very careful when undoing the bleed nipple on this valve - it's very flimsy and may be corroded in. I had to remove mine and put in a vice then take a chan...

Re: Santana SJ410 Water temperature sensor

Dave

If and when you visit your local Suzuki dealer for the sensor, make sure you have the full chassis number at hand. Without it they cannot order a part correct for the vehicle - will save you a trip home and back again.

Re: What Wire?

I Googled UK Vehicle Battery Cable Specifications and there are quite a few choices you can click on - this web site looked particularly helpful and easy to understand but it does seem that you have to know the spec of what you need. Can you not do some measuring of your existing cable or maybe some...

Re: Gearbox is dying.

Rebuilding the gearbox is not as daunting as you might think - I've recently put new bearings in my 410 gearbox. You will need access to various length bearing pullers and/or a bearing press plus you need to work in an organised way without lots of junk all around you - a digital camera comes in han...
