Re: sj410 carb replacement
Carburettor type as per the advice given by Jordi - when I bought my Sj410 it came with a new SU carb but it wasn't at that time fitted. I fitted it and it ran a bit rough so I contacted Burlen Carburettors in Salisbury, Wiltshire and they advised on the correct spring and needle set up which I purc...

Logging in to the Forum
Something has changed - it could be something I've done or the Forum may have changed but I have to log in much more often than I used to. This occurs even if I tick the Log me in each time I visit box. Obviously I've logged in now to write this but if I close down (without actually logging out) and...

Re: Planning on de-coking my sj..
Something to be aware of - and I confess this is from memory because I don't have my 410 anymore so I can't really describe this in detail, is the fitment of the two tubes in the head which squirt oil on to the rockers and cam lobes. They will fit back in to position in the wrong way - this means th...

Re: need abit of advice about a tight wheel
As Darrell says, you will need a 50mm socket which in my experience may have to be modified to provide a longer length - they always seem to be too short to allow it to engage with the outer locking nut which MUST be correctly torque loaded. Expect to pay about about £6-7 pounds for one from a tool ...

Re: need abit of advice about a tight wheel
As the caliper has been removed and therefore the braking on that wheel is redundant, I would be looking for a wheel bearing problem. Possibly a worn out or unlubricated set of bearings or possibly the bearings have been tightened up too much but I think that is the next step for investigation.

Re: Front wheelbearing nut size
With great certainty I can tell you that the inner and outer nuts are 50mm socket size - BUT, as has already been pointed out, you will struggle to find a socket that has enough depth to allow it to correctly fit over the inner nut because it will bottom on the drive shaft and therefore not reach th...

Re: wont start
All good advice but don't discard the fact that you may have a spark with the plug outside of the cylinders but they may be breaking down when under pressure. I've just had a very embarressing lesson with my sit on mower - it conked out for no obvious reason, I checked the plug for sparking, checked...

Re: Steering box greasing
Can't really answer your question with great authority but my sj410 (now sold) required 90 grade gear oil and I'm pretty certain that there was a plastic/rubber bung which you prised off for filling. I wouldn't use grease before you really know the answer (1) it may not provide the correct lubricati...

I'm sure someone will be along to help but I'm sure it would assist if you stated what vehicle you have and where you are in the UK.
